Mark and Diana – A Dunkeld Wedding

Diana and Mark got in touch just a few weeks before their Dunkeld wedding as they had opted to plan their wedding in a relatively short space of time – but they did a great job of it!

I had met them briefly last August when I shot the wedding of Richard and Kelly who are good friends of theirs – I was delighted when Kelly suggested they get in touch to see if I might be able to shoot the wedding for them, it’s always a privilege to be asked, but a special privilege to be back with previous clients!

Diana has family connections to Dunkeld, despite living down south, so the Cathedral was a personal choice of venue to celebrate their wedding vows. Mark was left sweating a little after Diana arrived a little later than planned – but his Best Men and Ushers did a great job of keeping him calm.

We made use of the beautiful grounds in the Cathedral for some quick group shots before the guests made their way back to Eastwood House, further along the river. Afternoon Tea had been set out and the guests had no hesitation in making the most of the beautiful gardens and river views under a clear blue sky.

We opted to spend a little time at the Cathedral for some photos before heading out up to the Bothy to get some sunset shots – another great day for a great couple!

A Meldrum House Wedding

Ian and Christine were married at the beginning of March with their wedding held in the beautiful Meldrum House in Aberdeenshire.

I had shot the wedding of Leanne and Rory last year who were friends of Ian and Christine’s so it was a real privilege to be asked to come and photograph their wedding at Meldrum House. It was also great to join the party with them and their guests – some new guests and some by now well known charachters to my cameras!

Being March in Scotland it was fairly windy – but we made good use of the Stables at Meldrum to get a little shelter from the wind for their group shots, before heading in to join the party.

Meldrum is a beautiful venue and has the real benefit of the original hotel building and the adjoining marquee – a great place for a wedding party – and a great party it was!

Alex and Suzi – An Inverallan Church Wedding

After yesterdays wedding of Niall and Catherine at Airth Castle I was delighted to have another wedding to head to – this time for Alex and Suzie at Inverallan Church followed by their reception at Aultmore House in Nethybridge.

I’m always honoured when asked to be with a couple to shoot their images for them but Alex and Suzie’s was an extra special wedding for me, they are dear friends and their page boy was none other than Ally, our son.

As I watched them take their vows I was reminded of when I picked up Suzie from the airport after she had returned from her study abroad semester in New Zealand – while there she had met a pile of new friends, including a guy from Minnesota called Alex. The rest as they say – is history!

Niall and Catherine – An Airth Castle Wedding

I was delighted to be with Niall and Catherine today as they took their wedding vows at Glasgow RP church with a ceremony following at Airth Castle.

Niall and Catherine first sent me an e-mail after they got engaged to tell me they had discussed having me shoot their wedding photos before they were even engaged! Needless to say I was honoured to be asked and excited to shoot something special for them.

We shot most of their photos at Airth Castle before taking a trip out after dinner to make the most of the daylight – it is great to have more time to work with now that the clocks have gone forward!

Aultmore House Aerial Photos

I’m prepping up for a busy couple of days with back to back weddings on Thursday of Niall and Catherine in Glasgow followed by Alex and Suzie on Friday in Aultmore House in Nethybridge.

I was at Aultmore today to shoot some aerial photographs with the help of Doug from Stratos UAS and his impressive drone kit. The possibilities for utilising drones with cameras for unique angles makes for some exciting visuals – particularly for beautiful venues like Aultmore.

If you’re interested in finding out how you can incorporate some aerial photography into an upcoming project please do get in touch – I’d be pleased to hear from you!

Julie and Jordan – A Scottish Destination Wedding

Planning a Scottish Destination Wedding? This blog post is for you!

Julie and Jordan sent me an e-mail at the beginning of January asking if I would be available to help shoot some photos for them when they came to Scotland to get married the following month, I was delighted to be asked.

They have a great story as a couple, having only met six months ago in Germany despite both being from the USA. Julie was studying in Germany and Jordan was visiting with some friends from his Air Force base in the UK. They headed to Rome for their first date, Paris for their second and then came to Scotland to get married!

They had booked some accommodation at the beautiful Craigendarroch Hilton Resort in Ballater and went for a very low key ceremony in the local registry office in Aboyne. As well as being their photographer for the day it was a privilege to be their chauffeur and witness to their ceremony also!

We made good use of the beautiful scenery around Aberdeenshire for their photos with stops in Aboyne, Ballater, Balmoral, Crathie and the Lecht. The highlight of the day was managing to sneak our way on to the Balmoral Estate for some photos at the Royal Family’s Scottish Home, we didn’t ring the bell but I don’t think they were in!

If you are planning a wedding in Scotland and are looking for a photographer to make the most of your memories please do get in touch, I’d love to hear from you.

Cortes House Wedding – David and Chrissy

I was in Aberdeen at the end of last week for a few days, first for the Girls Night In wedding exhibition with the Scottish Wedding Directory and then for the wedding of David and Chrissy at Cortes House on Saturday.

David and Chrissy chose to have a small intimate wedding with only 20 immediate family and some friends from the RAF where they both serve. Being a naturally beautiful venue Cortes made for a very laid back event!

Congrats David and Chrissy – thanks for letting me share the day with you both, and enjoy your honeymoon!

Diana and Mark – A Dunkeld Wedding

I was shooting the wedding of Mark and Diana on Saturday up in Dunkeld, in-between working on an editorial assignment in Glasgow – it’s been a busy week!

Mark and Diana’s wedding was another very laid back affair, with approx 50 friends and family joining them for the wedding ceremony in Dunkeld Cathedral and then a weekend party over in the stunning Eastwood House down by the banks of the river.

I first met Mark and Diana briefly when they were guests at the wedding of their friends Richard and Kelly who were married down in Derbyshire last year and who had also booked me to shoot their wedding. It’s especially satisfying to be asked to shoot a wedding for friends of past clients and great to see them again too.

We made good use of the beautiful surroundings around Dunkeld to work in some of the Landscape into the shots, it’s going to be a fun edit!

Ian and Christine – A Meldrum House Wedding

I was back in Aberdeenshire today for the fantastic wedding of Ian and Christine at Meldrum House.

Ian and Christine chose to have their whole wedding day at Meldrum with both their ceremony in the beautiful hotel and the reception in the permanent marquee in the grounds of the Hotel. I love shooting Marquee weddings.

It was a very relaxed day, and was particularly enjoyable for me to see some familiar faces as Ian and Christine had first discovered my work when I had shot for friends of theirs, Leanne and Rory a few years ago.
